At Eris Digital Media, we believe the digital publishing industry is overdue for disruption. But there is a massive difference between disrupting a broken system and devaluing the human soul of a story.
Lately, the question isn’t whether to use AI, but how to use it ethically. Here is where we draw the line.
1. The "No AI Slop" Guarantee
We’ve all seen it: the generic, uncanny-valley AI covers and the "soulless" passages plugged into generators. In the romance and fantasy worlds, this will get you on readers' lists of books or authors to avoid.
- We do NOT use AI to create your Digital Special Editions or Reader Compendiums. Full Stop.
- We DO source "Visual DNA" through verified historical archives (like The Met or Smithsonian) and licensed artists with Commercial Use licenses. Your digital artifacts are curated by a researcher with an MSLIS degree, not created by an algorithm or a prompt plugged into an AI engine.
2. AI as the Silent Architect
While we keep AI out of your reader’s hands, we use it behind the scenes to protect your Time.
- Systems-First: I use AI to help run the Business end of Eris Digital Media, so I can spend more time on the creative design. As a boot-strapping solo operator trying to disrupt an industry, I need someone else looking at the books and identifying gaps in my business logic.
- Efficiency: We DO use it to write articles and social media. I am a novelist, not a copywriter. Everything is then edited and given a 'voice' by me. Could a human doing those tasks do a better job than a bot? Absolutely. But how happy would they be after being woken up at 3 AM when I have an idea that won't let me sleep? As an Au/ADD writer, it would take me longer to explain what I'm looking for to another human, and frankly, I might even forget the point when I reach the end of the explanation.
3. Protecting the Sovereign Author
Our mission is to help you move from "digital sharecropping" on retailers' platforms to owning your own customer data and sovereignty. AI-generated text is easily scraped and shared; our Fixed-Layout Architecture is designed to be a psychological and technical deterrent to piracy and AI crawlers.
The Bottom Line: I am a tinkerer by nature. I use new tech to solve old problems. So while I will tell you how to get found by AI search, I will never use a machine to mimic the "soul" of the books you slaved over.
